Introduction to contextualised care: What it is, and what it is not, and how to approach the issues
Saturday, September 26, 2026, 9:00 AM - 9:45 AM | Argyll 1 | Lecture |
Contextualised care means knowing how to play the cards that you are dealt – anyone can play a perfect hand, the skill comes in playing the poor hand. This session will outline the principles of contextualised care and how to apply it in your practice – be that referral or primary care.
Key Learning Objectives:
- Define contextualised care and distinguish it from guideline-led, “ideal-world” care by identifying when patient context should modify standard plans.
- Be able to apply core principles of contextualised care to real cases in referral and primary care by formulating safe, pragmatic management when resources, patient preferences, or circumstances limit the “perfect” option.
