Description

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most common heart disease in cats, with a highly variable clinical presentation ranging from asymptomatic murmurs to life-threatening thromboembolism or congestive heart failure. This session will explore the "bad" outcomes of the disease, the "new" insights from recent research, and the essential diagnostics that every clinician should be familiar with in daily practice. Key clinical findings, including auscultatory and radiographic clues, will be discussed along with the most important differential diagnoses that can be identified in the first opinion setting. Echocardiographic assessment from an experienced user will be mentioned, to understand when a referral can help.
