Electrocardiography (ECG) is a simple, accessible and essential diagnostic tool for the assessment of cardiac rhythm and conduction in our fellow pets. Often ECGs are feared by first opinion practices and are seen as taboo topic. This session aims to demystify this preconcept, and outlines the practical steps required to obtain a high-quality ECG recording, including correct lead placement, patient positioning and machine settings. A systematic approach to ECG interpretation will be discussed, focusing on few steps that are used on every type of heart rhythm irregularity and the most common arrhythmias will be illustrated and taken apart, allowing you to quickly identify the issue in all the settings.
