Dr Susan Thorne graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Zoology in 2006, then worked as a zoologist on projects around the world, before completing her veterinary degree at the University of Glasgow in 2013. Following graduation, Dr Thorne worked in mixed practice in East Lothian, Scotland, where she developed a strong interest in dentistry. She went on to complete a residency in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery in 2018 under the mentorship of Dr Norman Johnston. She is currently working towards completion of her specialist board examinations while balancing professional and family life.
