In this session we will review the basics of cytology collection and recognise how to maximise the diagnostic value of samples submitted, reviewing tips on how to avoid the most common technical issues and artefacts for solid lesions and fluid cytology submissions. We will then review the principles of cytological examination and how to recognise some of the most common cytological patterns.
